Vollständige Stellenbeschreibung
The lab of Dr. Eric Metzger at the Department of Urology, Medical Center – University of Freiburg, is offering a
Postdoc position - Deciphering the KMT9 biology in a preclinical colorectal cancer model (m/f/d)
The fully funded Postdoc position is available at the Center for Clinical Research, Medical Center, University of Freiburg, Germany. The group led by Dr. Eric Metzger is a multi-disciplinary team with a focus on all aspects of epigenetic regulation including immuno-oncology, stemness, metabolism, signaling, drug development, and chromatin states. The research group is embedded in the Collaborative Research Centre 1479, a research effort of 19 PIs on various aspects on oncogene-driven immune escape.
The Metzger lab combines genome-wide analyses and single cell-omics techniques with in vivo approaches such as genetically modified mouse and 3D organoid models to study the interdependent interaction between tumor and its microenvironment. The aim is to connect basic and translational research with comprehension of human diseases.
The proposed project aims to investigate the functions of the lysine methyltransferase KMT9 (Wang et al, Nat Commun, 2024, Berlin et al, Cancer Research 2022, Metzger et al, Nat Struc Mol Biol 2019) in reprogramming the tumor microenvironment in colorectal cancer. You will be part of a team, which combines genome-wide analyses, proteomics, metabolomics, and molecular- and cellular biology with epigenetic regulation to identify novel avenues for translation in clinical practice. In particular, we intersect immuno-oncology and immunological approaches with epigenetic information to develop novel therapeutic strategies orchestrating tumor-microenvironment interactions.
Applicants with experience in immuno-oncology and/or immunology are preferred.
We offer:
a dynamic, highly interactive environment and an international working atmosphere with state-of-the-art facilities
intensive support and interdisciplinary collaborations
a 2-year Postdoc position
Tasks:
perform genome-wide transcriptome (RNA-seq, scRNA-seq), cistrome (ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN) proteome analyses. Use technologies such as flow cytometry, CODEX imaging. Perfom bioinformatic analysis
work with mouse and human CRC organoids and preclinical mouse models
perform functional T-cell assays, immune checkpoint analyses, and signaling studies
Your Profile:
completed PhD in molecular medicine, biology, biochemistry, or a related field
experience in immuno-oncology and/or immunology
interest in translational cancer immunology
independent, structured work style and good English skills
