We are seeking a candidate who represents the field of Classical Archaeology and preferably has a focus on object- and image-based approaches – ideally in Greek Archaeology. The professorships responsibilities include teaching in the BA and MA programs at the Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology, as well as serving as deputy director of the Academic Art Museum. Upon transition to a W3 professorship, the position holder will take over the directorship of the museum. The position also includes participation in academic self-administration.

Applicants for this position must hold a relevant degree, teaching qualifications and a special ability to conduct academic research, as demonstrated by an excellent doctoral dissertation. Experience in museum practice as well as in the application of scientific and/or digital methods is desirable. Active participation in the facultys research priorities of provenance studies and heritage studies, as well as in the “Museum Studies” program at the masters level, is expected. Participation in the institutes research initiatives and a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration are particularly welcome.

The conditions of employment are in accordance with § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW, HSG NRW).
