Research Assistant/Postdoc (m/f/d)
at the Center for Translational Bone, Joint and Soft Tissue Research
The position is to be filled as soon as possible on a full- or part-time basis, with a minimum of 36 hours per week, for a fixed term of 3 years. Compensation is based on the pay scale for the public sector (TV-L) and may be classified in pay grade E13 , provided you meets the personal qualifications.
The Center for Translational Bone, Joint, and Soft Tissue Research was founded in late 2010 as a central scientific institution of the University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine at Dresden University of Technology to conduct interdisciplinary research on issues in musculoskeletal medicine and related fields. The BMFTR-funded HYBiRD research project, led by Prof. Michael Gelinsky, includes a subproject investigating the bioprinting of human tissue models using hyaluronic acid-based bioinks to provide realistic tissue models for medical research, drug testing, and, in the future, personalized therapies.
Your Responsibilities:
Development of new, biopolymer-based hydrogel blends for extrusion bioprinting, as well as the production of bioinks by combining the blends with living cells
Physicochemical characterization of the blends
Conducting bioprinting experiments using the newly developed and already established bioinks
Cell biological characterization of the bioprinted 3D cell constructs
Establishment of a porcine ex vivo articular cartilage tissue culture for testing bioprinted cartilage constructs
Collaboration on the standardization of data exchange within the framework of the “MaterialDigital” project platform
Documentation of all work performed, technical exchange with the project partner, and publication of the results at scientific conferences and in articles in peer-reviewed journals
Your Profile:
A university degree in biofabrication, chemistry, biology, materials science, bioprocess engineering, or a comparable field, along with a Ph.D.
Extensive experience with hydrogels, bioinks, cell cultures, and working in an S1 laboratory
Ideally, experience in the field of 3D bioprinting
Conscientious and skilled handling of toxic and sensitive substances
Very good written and spoken English skills
Enthusiasm for working in an ambitious, interdisciplinary research group
