Working at Charité
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated scientist to join our team for a Ph.D. in translational lymphoma research. Our young, interdisciplinary team of physicians and scientists from biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics has a strong publication record and is dedicated to advance cancer research.
Join a dynamic team in modern laboratories shared by five research groups, where innovation thrives. Work with state-of-the-art technologies (flow cytometry, protein biochemistry, genomics) and top instruments (automated pipetting systems, high-content Operetta imaging platform). Benefit from ongoing collaborations with single-cell multi-omics, genomics, and proteomics experts at BIMSB, MDC, and BIH. Receive successful onboarding and structured scientific guidance to support your research.
Overview of the position
As part of your Ph.D. project, you will identify and functionally characterize novel molecular vulnerabilities to improve cellular immunotherapies for aggressive B-cell lymphomas. The project aims to elucidate mechanisms of resistance to CAR T-cell and bispecific antibody therapies and to develop innovative immunotherapeutic strategies for preclinical application.
Identify and validate novel therapeutic targets using functional genetic approaches and molecular biology techniques.
Develop and apply preclinical cellular and mouse models to investigate innovative immunotherapeutic strategies.
Functionally characterize CAR T-cell and bispecific antibody therapies using state-of-the-art technologies, including CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing and single-cell multi-omics.
To mechanistically investigate these questions, you will apply techniques including flow cytometry, protein biochemistry, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and next-generation sequencing, with the opportunity to perform independent bioinformatic analyses. In addition, you will gain experience in spectral flow cytometry and benefit from collaborative opportunities in single-cell multi-omics. The project involves working with primary patient samples, cell lines, preclinical mouse models and clinical patient datasets.
You will be employed as a research associate: Pursuant to Section 110 (4), sentence 3 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG), research associates are granted an appropriate amount of working time to pursue their own academic qualification and professional development.
What we are looking for
Educational Background: You should hold a degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, Pharmacy, Bioengineering, or a related field.
Background in Molecular and Cell Biology Expertise: A strong foundation in molecular and cell biology is preferred.
Pre-Clinical Models and NGS Experience: Ideally, experience with pre-clinical models (e.g., FELASA certificate) and proficiency in analyzing data from standard NGS platforms is advantageous.
Language Skills: Excellent English skills are required; knowledge of German is a plus.
Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication skills, experience working in multidisciplinary teams, and a record of working in competitive researc
