The Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Würzburg is seeking a motivated student research assistant to support an interdisciplinary research team working in radiochemistry, molecular imaging, and translational medicine.
Our research group focuses on the development and preclinical evaluation of innovative radiopharmaceuticals for molecular imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy. Our projects cover a broad spectrum of diseases, including cardiovascular, oncological, and inflammatory disorders. We work with various molecular platforms, such as small molecules, peptides, antibodies, and nanoparticles.
This position offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience in a modern biomedical and radiochemical research environment and to contribute to current scientific projects.
A student research assistant position of up to 40 hours per month
Flexible working hours coordinated with your studies and ongoing research projects
Structured training in relevant laboratory and documentation procedures
Participation in innovative research projects at the interface of chemistry, radiopharmacy, molecular imaging, and translational medicine
Access to state-of-the-art radiochemistry laboratories and preclinical imaging facilities
Insights into the development, radiolabeling, quality control, and preclinical evaluation of novel radiopharmaceuticals
An interdisciplinary and international research environment
Individual supervision by experienced scientific and technical staff
The possibility of completing a Bachelors or Masters thesis, subject to academic suitability and project availability
The possibility of contributing to scientific publications and conference presentations, depending on the individual contribution to the research project
Your Tasks
The specific responsibilities will be adapted to your level of study, previous experience, and academic interests. Possible tasks include:
Supporting the preparation and performance of chemical and radiochemical experiments
Assisting with the synthesis, purification, and analytical characterization of precursor molecules, reference compounds, and radiotracers
Supporting analytical procedures such as HPLC, radio-HPLC, TLC, and radio-TLC
Preparing reagents, buffers, standards, and other laboratory solutions
Preparing consumables, samples, and experimental setups
Supporting the preclinical and translational evaluation of novel radiopharmaceuticals
Documenting and performing basic analyses of experimental results
Collecting, structuring, and processing scientific data
Conducting literature searches on current scientific topics
Supporting the preparation of figures, tables, presentations, and scientific documents
Assisting with general laboratory organization, inventory management, and quality assurance
Participating in interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects
Your Profile
Essential Qualifications
Current enrolment in a Bachelors or Masters degree programme, preferably in one of the following or a related discipline:
Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Chemical Engineering
Interest in radiochemistry, radiopharmacy, molecular imaging, or translational research
Interest in practical laboratory work
A careful, reliable, and responsible working style
Willingness to learn new methods and engag
