The Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Würzburg invites applications for a 50–70% position as a Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA) or Research Technician in Radiochemistry.

The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team focused on developing innovative radiopharmaceuticals for molecular imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy. The position primarily involves practical laboratory work in organic synthesis, radiolabeling, purification, analytical characterization, and quality control.

Our research addresses a broad range of diseases, including cardiovascular, oncological, and inflammatory disorders. Radiopharmaceutical development involves various molecular platforms, such as small molecules, peptides, antibodies, and nanoparticles.

Participation in innovative research projects at the interface of radiochemistry, molecular imaging, and translational medicine

Access to state-of-the-art radiochemistry laboratories and preclinical imaging facilities

Practical training in the synthesis, radiolabeling, purification, and quality control of novel radiopharmaceuticals

Your Tasks

Your Tasks

Synthesis and purification of precursor molecules and reference compounds for radiotracer development

Preparation and execution of radiolabeling experiments

Optimization and standardization of laboratory protocols

Purification and analytical characterization of synthesized and radiolabeled compounds

Application of analytical methods such as HPLC, radio-HPLC, TLC, radio-TLC, and related quality-control techniques

Preparation of reagents, buffers, standards, and laboratory materials

Support of preclinical and translational studies involving novel radiopharmaceuticals

Documentation, evaluation, and presentation of experimental results

Maintenance, organization, and quality assurance of laboratory equipment and workspaces

Support in laboratory management, ordering, inventory control, and documentation

Active participation in interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects

Essential Qualifications

Completed vocational training as a Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA) or a comparable laboratory-based qualification

or

Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline

Practical experience in chemical laboratory work

Careful, reliable, and well-organized working style

Ability to work independently according to established protocols

Willingness to work with radioactive substances following appropriate training

Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary and international team

Good written and spoken English skills

Desirable Qualifications

Practical experience in organic synthesis

Experience with HPLC, TLC, or related analytical methods

Experience in radiochemistry or handling radionuclides

Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical development or q
