Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in Movement Disorders
The Department of Neurology is committed to outstanding clinical care and scientific excellence across the full spectrum of neurological disorders. A particular clinical and research focus is placed on innovative diagnostics and therapies for early and advanced Parkinsons disease and other movement disorders.

We are pleased to accept applications for a two-year Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in Movement Disorders, starting at the earliest possible date.
The fellowship is specifically designed for early-career physicians from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) who wish to expand their clinical, scientific, and teaching expertise in the field of Parkinsons disease and movement disorders and subsequently apply and share this knowledge in their home countries.
The fellowship follows a “train-the-trainer” approach. In addition to comprehensive clinical training, fellows will receive structured education in clinical research, scientific methodology, and medical education and teaching. A central objective is to enable fellows, upon returning to their home countries, to share their acquired knowledge and expertise with colleagues and to contribute to the sustainable development of local expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and research of Parkinsons disease and other movement disorders.

Salary based on the German E6 TV-L scale and part-time employment currently 30.80 hours/week and remuneration in accordance with the fellowship framework

What to Expect
Comprehensive training and hands-on experience in the epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, and rehabilitation of movement disorders under the supervision of experienced neurologists
Practical expertise in the management of patients with Parkinsons disease and other movement disorders, tailored to the fellows background and individual training goals
Insights into innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in the field of movement disorders
Support in clinical research as well as in developing scientific presentations, educational materials, and teaching activities
Development of skills to transfer acquired knowledge and expertise to colleagues in the fellows home country after completion of the fellowship
What You Bring
A completed medical degree and initial clinical experience as a resident in Neurology or equivalent postgraduate training, or qualification as a specialist in Neurology
A strong interest in movement disorders and Parkinsons disease with a commitment to clinical excellence and translational research
An interest in medical education and teaching, including the development and delivery of presentations and training programmes
Excellent teamwork and communication skills; German language skills preferably at a minimum of A1 level; and willingness to develop further German language proficiency during the fellowship
