For our Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology research group at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, we are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) to join us as soon as possible. We are looking for someone who is eager to contribute their own scientific ideas, drive innovative research, and actively help shape the future direction of our group.
Our department operates fully digitalized, AI-supported workflows and covers the entire spectrum of modern radiation therapy, ranging from stereotactic high-precision treatments to online-adaptive treatment concepts. The close integration of research and clinical practice enables rapid translation of new developments into patient care.
Our research focuses on data-driven and image-guided approaches for further individualization of radiation therapy. We develop innovative workflows and advance the next generation of online-adaptive treatment concepts. We collaborate within a strong network of national and international research institutions as well as industry partners.
We offer substantial scientific freedom: you will have the opportunity to develop your own research focus, establish new collaborations, and strategically advance your academic career, including the possibility of pursuing a habilitation. We actively support applications for external research funding and provide an excellent scientific environment with close clinical integration. As part of the Charité, you will also benefit from Berlins outstanding research ecosystem and its numerous collaboration opportunities, particularly through the Berlin Institute of Health and the Berlin University Alliance. Both institutions offer excellent disciplinary and interdisciplinary training and career development programs.
Overview of the position
Contribute to innovative research projects and expand national and international research collaborations
Develop and establish your own scientific research focus
Apply for external research funding; original project ideas and grant proposals are highly encouraged
Supervise doctoral, masters, and bachelors theses
Participate in teaching activities in accordance with the applicable teaching regulations (LVVO)
What we are looking for
Excellent university degree and PhD in Medical Physics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
Experience in at least one of the following areas: workflow automation, data analysis, machine learning, or artificial intelligence, ideally with relevance to radiation therapy
Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and collaboration with clinical, technical, and international partners
Independent and well-structured working style, scientific curiosity, and motivation to develop and successfully implement new ideas
Excellent written and spoken English skills.
