The research project TabA – Tafsīr beyond Arabic is seeking to hire two postdoctoral researchers

for a period of five years, from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2031.

You are

a specialist in tafsīr and/or Islamic manuscripts, as demonstrated by your PhD thesis and/or publication record,

passionate about historical research,

able to work with sources in Arabic as well as at least one relevant source language, for example Persian, Ottoman Turkish, Turkestani, Malay, Javanese, Urdu, or Hausa,

proficient in English and interested in joining an international team of researchers,

willing to acquire skills in digital methods and contribute to joint publications.
